Since the day I was born, I have been involved with photography. You see, my father was a photographer. There are may pictures of me sitting, standing, running, and even crying. My father was constantly taking pictures of us. We have albums full of pictures in all red or all blue or gold because my father would experiment with film developing. I have always been fascinated by pictures, the ones I took, those that other people took, the pictures in magazines and on the internet. Looking at a nice picture brings me joy. Long before I learned how to use social media, I was taking pictures of my food, of the places I traveled to or of the people on the street. Pictures of total strangers. I would wonder about their lives. I would make up stories about their lives based on details I noticed about them. Sometimes I would make myself cry because of the stories I made up. Yes, I know, I'm a softy. I have taken many photography classes throughout the years. I have learned all about the technical aspects of photography but I am not a technical photographer. I rely mostly on what I see. I know what I like when I see it. I recently had the good fortune to meet Annie Leibovitz. We had a nice conversation about photography. What an honor that was. After meeting her, I happened to come across a video she did about her creative process for her Master Class. She said that if you are thinking about the technical aspects of a picture, then you are not taking pictures. Validation baby... I felt thrilled to know I share her philosophy. Here is a picture I took in Wyoming a few years ago at the site where the US Government set up one Japanese Internment camp. This photo is copywrited by Aime Alonzo.

<![CDATA[An Actor's Life]]>Wed, 02 May 2018 20:24:16 GMThttp://aimealonzo.com/blog/an-actors-lifeI have had the opportunity to work on some TV and film sets and each has been enjoyable. I have made many new friends and learned from them. It has been a positive experience where I have encountered consummate professionals. However, there was one particular movie set that was so positive and so uplifting that I felt right at home, as if I were visiting family I had not seen in a while. Everyone was looking out for each other and helping each other. There was such camaraderie. When we were not on set performing, we shared information and tips. We talked about many different topics most related to being an actor and some more practical. The best part of it all was that there were people of all ages and races. We bonded and shared contact information. I am still in awe of my colleagues. This goes to show you that it is true that a set can be a positive place where we grow as performers. Damien Chazelle, director of LaLa Land said "I like a set to be a happy place, where people can feel free to experiment" Well Mr. Chazelle, I believe this does exist not just in LaLa Land. ]]><![CDATA[New York vs Paris]]>Mon, 23 Apr 2018 18:00:00 GMThttp://aimealonzo.com/blog/new-york-vs-parisI don't think I could ever live far away from New York City. It is a place where creativity oozes out of every building and every sidewalk. When I look around at the architecture, I am mesmerized. lt is just so picturesque...however, yes I said it. However, Paris is tied with New York City as far as I'm concerned. Paris has this unique flair for beauty. It is a place where eating bread is just the most wonderful thing in the world. It is the place for face creams and cooking gadgets, for flowers and adorable children that are mostly well mannered, and let's not forget the ART! There is art everywhere. Every street looks like it came out of a postcard. Every restaurant looks romantic... even some of the fast food joints look cool. When I visited Paris on one of my nine trips there.. uh huh.. you heard right.. nine times... I felt like a new person. The French Language came back to me, the tourist would ask me for directions in French or to take their picture, the shop vendors and the waiters spoke to me in French. I felt like I belonged there. I have always said that living in Paris for a year is on my bucket list. I will be writing more about Paris in future posts. In the mean time here is a picture of me in Paris after I got my hair cut at a local salon.

<![CDATA[Intro]]>Mon, 16 Apr 2018 18:00:00 GMThttp://aimealonzo.com/blog/intro
I have had this blog for about two years but never bothered to write anything. I have seen so many online ads for writing courses and blogging that I decided to give it a go. I have always been a writer of sorts. Poetry, short stories, scripts, reports legal briefs... you get what I mean. I kept a diary from the time I was 10 years old until I was in my 20's. I do like to write but I didn't think I have anything interesting to say. As I look back on my life, I realize that I have had so many contrasting yet wonderful experiences that my friends may be right, when they say, I make an interesting conversationalist. I am an Actor, a Producer, a Writer, a Photographer, a world traveler, I speak multiple languages, I have a law degree, and I have had the privilege to meet many important and famous people throughout my life. Not a day goes by that I don't see on TV someone I have met in person. I love to meet new people. I love music, and sometimes I can be a pollyanna. My kindness is at times mistaken for weakness but that is ok. So every week I will tell you about something that I observed or something that happened to me. I hope to write about positive things. This is the motto I have followed all my life. "If there is anything virtuous, lovely or of good report, or praiseworthy. we seek after these things." (LDS 13th Article of Faith) I will also share pictures when I can. Let's see where this goes and hopefully it will be fun for you and me. What do you say? Think you might want to join me? I hope so.
